British Underground announce three UK showcases at SXSW
Celebrating 22 years hosting UK showcases at South by Southwest (SXSW) from Amy Winehouse to Stormzy, British Underground announces three curated nights of music from Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th March, as part of the official SXSW Music programme.
The line-up covers a breadth of UK scenes from jazz to folk, co-hosted by Jazz re:freshed Outernational, The Broadside Hacks Folk Club, and ‘Selector Presents’ with Sian Eleri. British Underground will also be showcasing a special event by Eli Crossley, lead singer of Askew.

Broadside Hacks Folk Club – Tuesday 12 March 2024, 8pm – 2am CT

The Broadside Hacks Folk Club, founded at Hackney’s MOTH club in March 2023, has become a central hub to a new generation of folk musicians in London. Their first programme abroad promises to showcase a similar breadth of folk talent, stretching all the way from Australia to the US and Canada.
Jazz re:freshed Outernational - Wednesday 15 March 2024, 8pm-2am CT

Jazz re:freshed Outernational, the international showcasing partnership between Jazz re:freshed and British Underground features a not-to-be missed line-up of emerging UK jazz artists. The showcase is a highly anticipated part of SXSW’s music festival and represents a significant international springboard for new UK talent. Standout Jazz re:freshed SXSW alumni include Ezra Collective, who won the Mercury Prize in 2023.
Selector Presents with Sian Eleri at SXSW 2024 – Friday 15 March, 8pm-2am CT

Experience some of the best emerging UK talent at the ‘Selector Presents’ showcase. Selector Radio host Sian Eleri will introduce the performances, which will be recorded by Audio Always and broadcast around the world for British Council’s Selector Radio.

British Underground are proud to present Eli Crossley, 16-year-old frontman of the indie band Askew, playing songs from his recent EP. Eli will also be taking part in the panel discussion Tech for all: Unlocking Creativity with Inclusive Innovation as part of British Underground’s Future Art and Culture programme.
